The rustle of trees and chirping of birds. As the name suggests, you can taste mia mamma ("mother's taste" in Italian) in a house in the forest.
The restaurant "La mia mamma" was started by the wife of the owner and his wife, aka "Mamma", who wanted people to enjoy forest bathing and homemade Italian food using locally produced and consumed ingredients that are gentle to the body at the foot of Mount Iwate.
I recommend "tripe," a standard stewed dish in Italy. Tripe is the stomach of a cow, called "hachinos" in Japan. The combination of tripe and the tomato sauce made by Mamma is outstanding. Another dish not to be missed is the "Mushroom Cream Risotto" using "abi maitake" mushrooms. Enjoy the hot dish with the aroma and umami of the mushrooms!
Feel the forest and the ever-changing sunlight through the trees, and enjoy Hachimantai's natural bounty in Mamma's homemade Italian cuisine. *Menus are subject to change depending on the season.
